How do bilingual infants develop the ability to predict upcoming words based on the sounds and language patterns they hear?

In this study, we are interested in how children develop phonological prediction. Bilinguals can hear and understand both languages in the same sentence, in what is known as code-switching. We want to learn how children learn to predict the next word in a sentence. We do this by showing children two images along with audio in either English or Spanish. We will measure their anticipatory looks, where they predict the next image will appear on the screen to calculate how bilinguals develop prediction strategies for language.
